I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. The Tennessee Titans should take Jalen Ramsey in the 2016 NFL Draft. Put him at corner back or put him at safety. I don’t care, just do it. If they can trade down a few slots, acquire and additional pick or two and still make it happen, great. If you can’t trade back, take him with the 1st overall pick.
There is something special about this kid. I met him. He came in to do several segments of 3HL a few weeks ago. You could see it in his eyes: confidence, swagger, intelligence and competitiveness. He’s a winner. Florida State was 37-4 during his time in Tallahassee. He’s immensely talented and competitive. He was the first corner back to start the opener as a freshman at FSU since Deion Sanders. He’s from Nashville. He played his HS football at Brentwood Academy. These are all great reasons to like him, right?
We enjoyed having him on 3HL. One obvious question we had was will he play corner or safety in the NFL. He told us his desire was to play corner, “I feel like I’m a corner. I’m a natural corner.” He continued, “I’m more of the prototypical corner that the NFL needs nowadays, someone who can guard the smaller guys but also man up with the big guys and not get bullied out there.” As for his preference about which team he would like to play for professionally, he said he’d prefer to stay home. “I would love to play for the Titans.”
Ramsey turned the combine on its head Monday. He measured in at 6’1, 209. He posted an official 40-time of 4.41 seconds. He had a 41 1/2-inch vertical jump and an 11’3″ broad jump. Those numbers provide numerical justification for what I already believed, that Jalen Ramsey is the premier player in this Draft. He has all of the talent, intelligence, athleticism, competitiveness and intangibles the Titans need to lead their defense. Ramsey concluded his interview with us this way, “Let’s start it up. Bring Jalen home. Hashtag bring Jalen home.” The Titans are on the clock and as Jalen suggested in his interview on 3HL, they should #BringJalenHome.
You, too, will be a Jalen Ramsey fan when you listen to his conversation with us here: http://tinyurl.com/jalenon3hl
