We’re happy to offer you guys a post from a guest writer today, professional basketball player Alysha Clark. Alysha was Miss Basketball her senior year at Mt. Juliet HS while averaging 24 points and almost 12 rebounds per game. She was the Sun Belt player of the year her junior and seasons at Middle Tennessee and led the nation in scoring both years averaging 27.5 and then 28.3 points per game. Clark was selected in the 2nd Round of the 2010 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars. She recently signed a multi-year deal with the Seattle Storm. (A quick side note; her Storm coach, Jenny Boucek, is also from Nashville and actually played trumpet with me in the J.T. Moore school band.) Alysha plays overseas in the off-season. She is a fascinating person. Get to know her a little bit by reading her post.

Thanks Alysha! -Brent.

Hey hey y’all! So I’m back in Israel for my 5th year. I can’t believe it’s been that long! I’m back with my club from last year, Maccabi Ashdod, and we finished tied for second place in the regular season. We won the Israeli Cup, which is kind of like the NCAA tournament where it’s one and done. A night of firsts for me, my first cup championship and my first MVP as a professional. To say the least, it was a really special night for me. But, I knew I couldn’t dwell on it too long because that following week we were starting the semifinals of the Israeli League playoffs. We played a team called Herzliya that had a familiar Tennessee name, Michelle Snow, along with two other really good Americans. In the best-of-5 series we won 3-1 and tomorrow we start the finals! I’m really happy to be back in the finals with my team, but I know how hard it is to win one championship so trying to win back to back is going to be a challenge!

Aside from Israel, I’m going to be back in Seattle this summer! I signed a multi-year deal in February which still doesn’t feel real to me! I can’t believe a girl like me, who came to Mt. Juliet barely knowing how to pivot or shoot outside the paint, is now going to be 7 years in the best women’s league at the end of this contract. It’s so amazing and humbling all at the same time. I’m glad I’ve been able to share my journey with so many caring & supportive people!

My dog Sly, the cutest chihuahua you’ll ever lay eyes on, is still traveling the world with me and takes up most of my down time. When I’m not doing stuff with him, I’m probably in the kitchen cooking, exploring parts of Israel I’ve never been to before, or reading a book! Haha life is pretty chill on this side of the world! I’m currently in the works of getting my blog set up so I can start sharing some of my yummy recipes! I post a lot on Instagram, but nothing is in full detail! So I’m really excited about this project!! Hope you guys will love it just as much as I do 🙂

Hopefully next time you hear from me, I’ll be a back to back champion!! 🙂
